Success Mobile World Congress paves way for CTIA

Attendance was down at GSMA Mobile World Congress(MWC) this year but it didn't stop the Irish companies that participated from getting the best from the show. Declan Collins, from Enterprise Ireland's Dublin office commented from the Ireland stand at MWC that he was pleasantly surprised with the positive response for the 19 participating companies. "There were fewer people attending the event than in previous years but, the key individuals who are responsible for making decisions on purchasing and so on, attended and the result is that our companies have been able to spend more time with the key people than, they would have in previous years. That's been very positive," he commented. Collins believes that Enterprise Ireland's participating companies are close to the number of key meetings they had last year and it may even be higher. In the past few years, Ireland has gained a reputation as a country for upcoming, innovative technology and that reputation gave Enterprise Ireland an edge at the show. "We had a reception on the stand on Tuesday evening and we were mobbed. It was incredible the number of people that came. We were complimented on the caliber of the companies and got some great publicity." We've been attending MWC for ten years now and the word is out that we have a reputation as a country with very very good mobile technology!" It all paves the way for a promising future for Irish telecoms companies and for CTIA in Las Vegas this April.
